Virgo- The “Star Maiden”

   Virgo is associated with the mythological goddess Astraea. She is the daughter of Astraeus (the Titan god of dusk and the stars) and Eos (the Titan goddess of the dawn). Her name translates to "star maiden" or "starry one". She symbolized the bright and hopeful aspect of humanity.

     During the peaceful Golden Age, Astraea lived directly among mankind, serving as a guide and guardian of human righteousness.

      As humanity morally decayed through the Silver and Bronze ages into the violent Iron Age, she grew deeply disheartened by war, greed, and lawlessness. Disgusted by human conflict, she was the last of the immortals to leave the earth, ascending to the heavens where she became the constellation Virgo.

      This feels like the essence of Virgo to me; The amount of care they have for their fellow humans is astounding, the “last of the immortals to leave earth.” Beautiful.

And speaking of- I just learned of Dolly’s passing.

Dolly Parton was born with her ascendant and moon in Virgo. She lived a life of service and symbolized the best of humanity, just like the “star maiden” in the myth of Virgo.
